PM Harper's Quote, Slightly Altered

Prime Minister Harper said this recently:

Hezbollah's objective is violence. Hezbollah believes that through violence it can create, it can bring about the destruction of Israel. Violence will not bring about the destruction of Israel...and inevitably the result of the violence will be the deaths primarily of innocent people.

See, Hezbollah is bad. No argument from me on that point. But if you change just a couple words in that quote...

G.W. Bush's objective is violence. Bush believes that through violence he can create, he can bring about the destruction of terrorism. Violence will not bring about the destruction of terrorism...and inevitably the result of the violence will be the deaths primarily of innocent people.

So...how is Bush good?

I completely agree. Attempting to stop terrorism through violence while at the same time ignoring the conditions which breed terrorism is a plan for disaster. Could it be that Bush is so crazy that he's trying to bring about the end of the world because he thinks Jesus will come?

He's such a religious weirdo that I certainly wouldn't put it past him.

Harper is wrong. Of course violence would bring about the destruction of Israel. It's just that (luckily) Hezbolla is unable to dish out enough violence to do it.

Anyone check out the Rapture Ready bulletin boards lately? The admins are deleting the "Wow! The end of the wolrd at LAST!" posts as fast as they can, but these folks are awful excited that Jeebus is comin' real soon...

Personally, I don't think he cares about terrorism at all. The whole "war" is a political ploy to make him look like he's leading us in a fight against an evil enemy. He also uses it to stifle criticism by saying "If you're not with us, you're against us." Then other conservatives take up the reins and accuse anyone who criticizes him as being anti-american and pro-terrorist.
