Quick Thought Experiment

Imagine for a second that you know nothing about religion. No concept at all, you just flew here from another English-speaking planet or something and the first person you talked to said this:
Some rabbis want to buy some sheep so they can find one that is perfect to kill so their God will be happy, but there's a bit of controversy because they want to kill the sheep at the place where the Muslims think their prophet flew to Heaven on a winged horse.

I really don't think there's too much more to say. The worst part about that retarded quote is that it's a real story. Holy crap...I think for this level of stupidity both the rabbis and the Muslims involved get the coveted Heathen Helmet Award. Enjoy.

The problem is that most of the people on this planet would fall into one of three camps regarding that experiment.

1) The Muslims are wrong! The rabbis are absolutely right and have the right and duty to perform their duties for God.

2) The Rabbis are wrong. Allahu akbar!

3) Silly bastards. Don't they realise that [insert diety (or dieties) of choice here] is really the absolute and unquestionable truth of the universe.

That's what religion is. The ability to splash around in one swimming pool full of shit pointing at the others saying "You idiots - look at you in your swimming pool full of shit!", whilst completely ignoring the smell and texture of their own swimming pool.

Skepticism is trying to make the water clearer, by first off facing the fact that it is still very cloudy indeed and removing one floater at a time.

Holy crap. Muhammed is Harry Hamlin.

Look at that! Muslims love and worship Harry Hamlin. Who'd a thunk it? Now that is a nice observation. Thanks, Rev.!

If Muhammed looked anything like Harry Hamlin in Clash of the Titans, I can see why he had so many wives. ::lol::

I'm rather enjoying Choosedoubt's image of religions as floaters.
