Mirko "Cro-Cop" Filipovic - Goodbye, Sir

I loved watching Pride FC. I was super happy when the UFC bought it and started bringing guys over to see how the transition would be for the Japan-based contingent like Quinton Jackson, Dan Henderson, and Mirko. The former two did (and are still doing) quite well, but Mirko never really found his rhythm in the States. He struggled and it made me sad to see the North American fans who didn't know anything but UFC badmouth a guy who was a killer in Pride.

Mirko lost his fight against Junior DosSantos at UFC 103 this past Saturday and, by all accounts, is retiring. It's for the best because his last few outings were not great, but man, I'm still a fan of the guy. By way of a little send-off, here's a video of Cro-Cop fighting Igor Vovchanchyn and doing some damage. It also highlights Pride FC's patented "ref-cam" which I miss muchly as well.

Oh, if you have an aversion to seeing a dude get kicked in the head with a really great "thud/slap" sound, you might want to give this a pass. But you don't want to miss it, do you? Really? No, you don't. Enjoy, and thanks to Mirko Filipovic for great fight memories.

No aversion to seeing someone being kicked in the head, especially if its not me. Was kicked in the head by a female state champion once- no headgear.
