Mike Adams, The Health Ranger, Loses His Shit

I really can't explain the situation better or show what a tremendous ass Adams is better than PZ does here. Not that he needs the traffic or anything, but go check it out if you want to see what a dishonest, petty, delusional man is The Health Ranger, Mike Adams.

Edit Update: Please go and read this post from Dubito Ergo Sum taking Adams apart Fisk-style. It's well worth the time and laughs.

Also, check out Orac's virtual napalming of Adams. The good times, they keep on comin'.

Oh, and now Steve Novella drops his hammer as well.

See, now Adams has absolutely no excuse for not knowing the actual position of skeptics on the issues he so thoroughly "researched" for his initial article. With all the high-profile names in the skeptical blogosphere addressing his points (one by one with flaming, glowing, burning precision), he has to concede that he has simply made shit up.

I'd recommend Bing's post, I think you's appreciate the humour -

Bing's post was hilarious and the one I linked to is fantastic as well. It's pretty funny to see Adams and Mercola just mentally fall apart over a fucking Twitter award. Imagine if they had any actual chops and real influence...

Whether Mike Adams lost his sh#@t or kept it is not the question that should be brought up. What Adams is attempting to represent is the bigger issue at hand-which is called well-being. People lose focus on well being and hey its easy to pick on a sore loser. Real easy if you ask me. But hey, if you are cool with sucking down a burger while watching the tube and playing on twitter..Be my guest.

Anon:"What Adams is attempting to represent is the bigger issue at hand-which is called well-being."
No, in the post I reference Adams is talking about a silly Twitter award and his follow-up post is about what his version of "skeptics" believe. In the latter post, he simply makes shit up.

Don't change the subject and get snarky about "sucking down a burger while watching the tube and playing on twitter". We can talk about that when it's pertinent - in this post, it's Adams' craziness and lying that's the focus.

Pathetic big Pharma CPR at work! Have to resort to personal attack now for people to buy into your deadly vaccines and drugs. Wow! pathetic indeed.

Anon - By the way, how about you use your name? Just a thought.

If you have evidence that vaccines are, as you claim, deadly, please show it. Otherwise you are just talking out your ass, much like Mike Adams.

Five minutes of Internet research should produce enough evidence on the danger of vaccines to satisfy any normal person.

"Five minutes of Internet research should produce enough evidence on the danger of vaccines to satisfy any normal person."

That's the problem in a nutshell, isn't it? Lay people who have no idea what makes quality research going to "Google U." and thinking they know medicine better than immunologists & infectious disease doctors with 20 year experience.

You know, there are some things in life that you actually have to invest more than five minutes in to understand. Medicine is one of those things.

I'm probably going to come off as petty myself, but from the image on your website, bloated and balding, you could probably use some good nutrition. The "Health Ranger" is clearly a bit extreme but has some good points, and after all, America is the fattest country on the world. It is despicable, and most people buy into the marketing of products leading to this obesity. I'd prefer to buy into the over obsessed nutritional natural care theories, then be a fat stat! All things considered, I'd rather eat healthy and be fit than be chubby on liver toxic medications, and all medications bar none are toxic to the liver, however minimally they are toxic. There is good and bad to everything, people just need to know to do their research and understand how much profit is made from sick people. There is NO MONEY in well people. Pharmaceutical companies, are doing quite well here in the Fat USA!

Anonymous...I really wish you people would man-up (or woman-up, as it may be) and use an actual name...

"...from the image on your website, bloated and balding, you could probably use some good nutrition." This is what's called an ad hominem. It's what people resort to when they have no actual point to make regarding the issue at hand, so they attack the person making the opposing argument.

"...America is the fattest country on the world" This is a non-sequitor, a point thrown into an argument that has nothing to do with what is being discussed Which in this case is Mike Adams making things up about a group he clearly knows nothing about.

"...I'd rather eat healthy and be fit than be chubby on liver toxic medications, and all medications bar none are toxic to the liver, however minimally they are toxic" This is a bold, nonsensical claim made with no evidence cited to support it.

"...people just need to know to do their research and understand how much profit is made from sick people. There is NO MONEY in well people. Pharmaceutical companies, are doing quite well here in the Fat USA!" This is an appeal for people to read nonsense disguised as "research" followed quickly by an unsupported conspiracy theory that "Big Pharma" is evil. It is also a red herring in that, yes, some of the practices of the pharmaceutical industry are suspect and need to be reformed, but that has nothing to do with Mike Adams making shit up and the skeptical community called him on it.

To sort-of quote a great movie: "Anonymous, what you've just written is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on the internet is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

if you really dont see the BIG picture, then you are really an idiot. Forget Mika Adams, just open you damn eyes and DO some real research.

What the fuck are you talking about? Are you talking about pharmaceutical companies being bad? If so, say so. MY point is that Mike Adams is an idiot and makes shit up, which has nothing to do with your point (if you even have a point).

I really wish you assholes would learn one thing: when you are not an expert in a field, who do you trust with respect to that particular information? I trust people who have expertise in that field and who have no (or very few, disclosed) conflicts of interest.

Mike Adams fails horribly in both of these categories.

So, you have to be an "expert" to make a credible claim about anything? I love your premise, which so many of your colleagues share. You have to have that piece of paper, with those letters behind your name (or be quoting someone who does), right? I happen to have a few of those in my chosen field, and they are generally a good thing to have. However, all my degrees and certifications ever taught me is how to jump through hoops. They did not teach me how to think, which I learned outside the classroom. Question is, whose hoops are we jumping through? Who established the standard that we all must follow and measure all new developments and processes against? Other people with letters behind their name. How about their hoops? At some point, we should be questioning whether some of these "hoops" are in the right place to begin with.

Steve,

When you say one has, "to be an expert...have to have that piece of paper, with those letters behind your name" - no, you don't. What you have to have is the evidence to back up what you say. That's the beautiful thing about science: the evidence trumps all, even "experts".

Secondly, when you talk about, "...whose hoops are we jumping through? Who established the standard that we all must follow and measure all new developments...", it's not a "who" question. The methodologies of science itself take care of any "hoops" people jump through. Is what you're saying plausible? Repeatable? Falsifiable? Does it make testable predictions?

The only "hoop" people have to jump through is the science hoop. Mike Adams and his site do not even come close. Period.

What's up with the douchebag who can only take what others say and point out why it's wrong?

Yep, when you have nothing constructive to say, just say something negative about the person. You are the definition of ad hominem. Fabulous parting gifts for you.

And to all the people defending this nut (Adams), please read the racist blog post he made following George Zimmerman's acquital.

He's also a birther, what further evidence do you need that he's an idiot?
